Microcosm Macrocosm

Symbolism

Microcosm Macrocosm is a series created using macro photography stacking techniques on geodes, resulting in a sharp focus throughout. The concept behind this series, as with its counterpart Little Planets, is that of microcosm and macrocosm. This vision of cosmos refers to the idea that the part (microcosm) reflects the whole (macrocosm) and vice versa. To achieve the “nebula” effect, two sets of lighting were used: a ring flash on the lens and a remote flash that spilled light through the rock facing the lens.
