Cessna Plane trip over Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, MI

Time has escaped. These images were taken in 2014… Tonight I’m putting things together.

Below are the images I took while flying over Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, MI. I went with my friend Adam and my wife Jen. The purpose of this shoot was to experiment with taking photos this high up and loosely tie into a series I was working on for grad school. I wanted to define patterns that only appear at a great distance.

My friend Ben had a pilot’s license and that’s all I needed to hear before heading up with him. This was before drones were getting really accessible so I took advantage of the time up in his Cessna plane, which felt like riding a boat in the sky, to grab high-res shots as Adam rolled video on the other side of the plane.
